meerecompany signs MOU for joint partnership with pmd and steps forward for Edge AI based ToF 3D camera business

The signing ceremony took place at meerecompany’s sensor division Giheung campus on November 6, attended by meerecompany’s CEO, Joonkoo Kim, and pmdtechnologies’s Managing Director, Jochen Penne, and other key executives from both sides. Through this partnership, the two companies plan to co-develop the Edge AI ToF 3D camera that is capable of performing AI computation and to expand applications across various industries, which meerecompany is already addressing with their 3D camera portfolio.

Centered around its “CubeEye” brand, meerecompany goes beyond simply manufacturing ToF 3D camera modules, possessing unique competitiveness in real-time 3D data processing through the integration of its self-developed processing chips and algorithms. Additionally, the company has built two distinct product lines: the S.Cube series, specialized for high-precision indoor measurement, and the I.Cube series, optimized for long-range outdoor measurement. Since its launch, the modules make use of the 3D technology and ToF imagers, jointly developed by pmd and Infineon, a leading semiconductor manufacturer from Germany.

A meerecompany representative stated, “This agreement marks a significant milestone in creating a new market paradigm by integrating AI into conventional ToF cameras. Through this collaboration with pmd, we aim to provide optimized Edge AI ToF solutions and take the lead in the global 3D camera market.” Jochen Penne from pmd added, “meerecompany is an outstanding partner with strong capabilities in system design and camera module development. The partnership started many years ago with meerecompany starting to use ToF imagers and technology from Infineon and pmd in their cameras. Now we take this to a new stage by combining these strengths with pmd’s AI technology. We look forward to jointly pioneer the Edge AI-based 3D camera market.”

Building on this MOU, the two companies plan to unveil a prototype of their Edge AI ToF 3D camera in 2026 and carry out joint marketing and solution promotion activities targeting global customers.
