We work together with experts from the industry in specialised teams and improve the sensor technology (at the Ulm location in particular the components used for light generation) and thus the products of the ifm electronic group. Our work has a direct impact on the next generation of industrial cameras, sensors and robots that will be used by people all around the world.
You will develop innovative semiconductor-based light sources for distance-measuring optical sensors together with other engineers and physicists in an interdisciplinary and cross-location project team. After your introductory period, you will be able to derive the specifications for the optoelectronic transmission components from the system requirements and design light-emitting semiconductor chips tailored to them. As an all-rounder, you will provide support in all phases of product development from the drafting of the design and sample construction through to series production. This includes, among others, the independent execution of semiconductor processing steps in the clean room, assembly and connection technology, the maintenance of technical documentation, the comprehensive characterisation of the components in the laboratory and communication with suppliers.
